MASSING MODELS

For the Carved by the Sun, I produced a series informal massing models, to explain light and materiality. These models were scaled at 1/8” = 1’ and are carved from found stones on site. While the model seen above represents the void in between the volumes and the light conditions at sunset, the massing model below conveys the programmatic volumes themselves and the attitude towards material that is prevalent within the project. Both of these models served as integral studies that helped progress the design of the house.
